The collaboration on 'Droom je Thuis'
The "Droom je Thuis" (Dream Your Home) project offers a safe and welcoming home for 12 people with disabilities. Bruco developed a program of requirements to optimally tailor housing to their needs, while maintaining cost control. Bruco was involved from the initial initiative to completion. In collaboration with parents and caregivers, Bruco incorporated all wishes into a structured plan, including construction, technical, and home automation aspects. This forms the basis for further architectural and technical development.
The project was launched as a pilot for a larger European study called AccesS. This study examines the accessibility of buildings and the potential of sensors for energy management, sustainability, and user-friendliness. Bruco considered the specific needs of the target group of future residents. For example, characteristics of this group, such as the fact that they sometimes have difficulty walking or are in wheelchairs, were taken into account. To achieve this, DEMO created a 3D virtual model that was made accessible to the partners involved in the AccesS study. In addition to the Droom je Thuis case study, this research also includes demonstration cases in government, healthcare, and monumental buildings.
