Innovative healthcare housing as part of European research

Bruco specializes in strategic housing for healthcare. For 18 years, they have been helping healthcare organizations with sustainable, feasible, and user-focused housing solutions. They focus on circular buildings that minimize waste and serve the interests of users, healthcare institutions, and society as a whole. Bruco's approach distinguishes itself by approaching housing from the user's needs, with an eye for substance, creativity, and feasibility.

"The project 'Droom je Thuis' was launched as a pilot for a larger European study called AccessS, which examines the accessibility of buildings."
The collaboration on 'Droom je Thuis'
The "Droom je Thuis" (Dream Your Home) project offers a safe and welcoming home for 12 people with disabilities. Bruco developed a program of requirements to optimally tailor housing to their needs, while maintaining cost control. Bruco was involved from the initial initiative to completion. In collaboration with parents and caregivers, Bruco incorporated all wishes into a structured plan, including construction, technical, and home automation aspects. This forms the basis for further architectural and technical development.

The project was launched as a pilot for a larger European study called AccesS. This study examines the accessibility of buildings and the potential of sensors for energy management, sustainability, and user-friendliness. Bruco considered the specific needs of the target group of future residents. For example, characteristics of this group, such as the fact that they sometimes have difficulty walking or are in wheelchairs, were taken into account. To achieve this, DEMO created a 3D virtual model that was made accessible to the partners involved in the AccesS study. In addition to the Droom je Thuis case study, this research also includes demonstration cases in government, healthcare, and monumental buildings.
Knowledge of European R&D projects
Thanks to its years of experience, DEMO possesses both the knowledge and resources to participate in a research consortium and the opportunities to collaborate on the implementation of such a project. For Bruco, this has been a major advantage of the collaboration. They were able to focus on the building's content and technical aspects, while DEMO advised and supported them in the research activities.
